Bees are an important part of our ecosystem because plants require their help to grow.

The darker the honey, the higher the antioxidants it has. Think of it like chocolate. Milk chocolate is not as good for you as dark chocolate. Although I’m as happy getting a Snickers from Jay’s Sinclair as I am a Hershey bar.

Not all stinging insects have the same benefits as honey bees. So, if you have wasps, yellow jackets or hornets disturbing your home, call us to have those removed.

Black Wasps are black in color, without stripes, and ½ to 1 ½ inches in length. As subterranean creatures, they live in small, underground nests. While the males are virtually harmless, females are capable of stinging when provoked. These stings can be especially painful, and run the same risk of allergic reaction as other stinging insects.

Yellow Jackets are approximately ½ to 1 inch long, and bright yellow and black in color. Similar to bees, they live in large colonies with a queen. When a nest of yellow jackets is located near a home, it must be removed immediately before an infestation develops. Unlike bees, yellow jackets are much more aggressive and can deliver several stings in a single attack.

Hornets are black with white markings and ½ to ⅝ of an inch long. Nests can be found hanging from bushes, trees, and buildings. Like other stinging insects, they have the ability to deliver several stings in a single attack. That’s why a nest should be removed immediately to prevent an infestation.

Honey Bees are light brown in color and measure approximately 15 mm long. They’re known for pollinating flowers in order to produce and store honey. As humans, we benefit greatly from what they provide. However, preventative measures must be taken to ensure a hive doesn’t exist in close proximity to a home.
