Paper Wasps are black & yellow striped, and ½ to 1 ½ inches in length. These wasps are extremely common in Idaho. Their nests are umbrella shaped, and created from wood pulp. Paper wasps are capable of stinging multiple times.

Yellow Jackets are approximately ½ to 1 inch long, and bright yellow and black in color. Similar to bees, they live in large colonies with a queen. When a nest of yellow jackets is located near a home, it must be removed immediately before an infestation develops. Unlike bees, yellow jackets are much more aggressive and can deliver several stings in a single attack.

Bald Faced Hornets are black with white markings and ½  to ⅝ inch long. Nests can be found hanging from bushes, trees, and buildings. Like other stinging insects, they have the ability to deliver several stings in a single attack. That’s why a nest should be removed immediately to prevent an infestation.

Honey Bees are light brown in color and measure approximately 15 mm long. They are known for pollinating flowers in order to produce and store honey. As humans, we benefit greatly from what they provide. However, preventative measures must be taken to ensure a hive doesn’t exist in close proximity to a home.
