Difficult to control, ants are the primary pest to infest a home.

Although the tiny black ants found indoors go by many nicknames, they’re likely odorous ants. Some people call them pea ants or sugar ants. They’re very small and can be found on counter tops and inside cabinets, among other indoor places. There’s usually a trail of them. You may also notice them where you store pet food.

If your ant problem makes you want to stay at Chinden Motor Inn instead of your own home, call us today for a free quote and quick scheduling.

Common Ants

Odorous Ants are a native ant species commonly found throughout the United States. They earn their name by producing a foul “rotten coconut” odor when crushed. At about 1⁄16 to ⅛ of an inch long, they’re black or brown in color. Inside, they tend to make their nests in walls, crevices, sinks, cupboards, etc. Outside, they can be found in shallow, exposed soil often located beneath bricks, sidewalks, etc.

Black Carpenter Ants are commonly found in many parts of the world. Ranging from ¼ to ⅜ of an inch long, they’re dark brown to black in color. You can often find them outside in areas containing dead wood, or they can be found inside window sills or walls. While they don’t eat wood, they do, however, damage wood by hollowing it out to create their nests.

Pavement Ants are native to Europe, but were introduced as unwanted pests to North America. At ⅛ to 1⁄16 of an inch long, they’re blackish-brown with paler legs and antenna. As their name indicates, they can be found under pavement, sidewalks, stones or next to buildings. They can also be found in walls and under floors.

Ant Control Garden City

Ants can multiply very quickly. Not only are they destructive and annoying in nature, they can easily invade even the tightest containers. At Get Lost Pest Control, we eliminate ants by treating inside and outside areas with effective ant control measures that last up to 3 months.

When treating ants, we use a two-step approach. The first step is to spray a pest control product which will kill the ants on contact. Our second step is to strategically place ant bait inside and outside your home. The bait attracts ants, they collect the bait, and then take it back to share it with other ants in the colony.
