Unfortunately, detecting mice in your home can sometimes be tricky. Mice are very secretive. They don’t often emerge when humans are around, especially during the daytime. Thankfully, though, mice leave many other signs of their presence, and a trained eye can often pick up on these easily. Think you have a problem with Meridian mouse control? Keep an eye out for one or more of these tell-tale signs.
Signs of Mice Presence
The most obvious indicator that you have mice in your home is seeing an actual mouse. This is rare, and often signifies a large mouse population. Once a mouse finds a nest, it often stays within its safety except to find food. Therefore, if you see a mouse in your home, it may mean that other mice are already living in all the available nesting sites. Don’t wait to take action if you see a mouse. It could mean you have a large Meridian mouse control problem on your hands.
The second-best sign of a mouse infestation is seeing mouse droppings. As long as you’re properly identifying the droppings you can be fairly certain that you have mice, or at least had some in the past. To determine whether the droppings are current it’s a good idea to remove the droppings and watch to see if more appear. If not, it’s likely that your mouse has moved on. However, it’s important to ALWAYS use protective gear when removing mouse droppings, as they can spread respiratory illnesses.
If you aren’t seeing mouse droppings or mice themselves, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t have mice. Though less obvious, there are many other possible indications that you have a mouse infestation. They include:
- footprints or tracks in dusty or dirty areas
- visible nests or burrows
- chewed pieces of plastic, paper, wood, or food
- noises coming from walls or attics such as scurrying, gnawing, or scratching
- unpleasant smells from feces, urine, or dead mice
