Odorous Ants are a native ant species commonly found throughout the United States. They earn their name by producing a foul “rotten coconut” odor when crushed. At about 1⁄16 to ⅛ of an inch long, they’re black or brown in color. Inside, they tend to make their nests in walls, crevices, sinks, cupboards, etc. Outside, they can be found in shallow, exposed soil often located beneath bricks, sidewalks, etc.
Black Carpenter Ants are commonly found in many parts of the world. Ranging from ¼ to ⅜ of an inch long, they’re dark brown to black in color.
