Important Considerations:

  • The acrobat ant gets its name from the fact that when disturbed, they can raise their abdomen up over their head.
  • When threatened, these ants will put off a bad smell and may bite.
  • Acrobat ants have been known to cause short circuits by stripping insulation from electrical wires.

Where to Find Them on Your Property?

Acrobat ants will enter homes by following tree limbs or electrical wires to cracks or crevices in the house. Once inside, they will build nests in wall cavities or in wood damaged by wood boring insects or wood damaged by water or fungi.
