Important Considerations:

  • Worldwide, there are 12,000 species of scorpions. 70 of these are found in the United States.
  • Scorpions can survive for months without food as long as they have access to water.
  • Most species of scorpions can and will deliver stings to humans that feel similar to a bee sting. However, there are several species in which their stings are life threatening. One such species is the Arizona Bark Scorpion — which is found in the United States.

Where to Find Them on Your Property?

Outdoors, scorpions prefer arid climates. They choose to live under rocks, inside debris, or within the ground to stay cool. When the weather is especially hot, the may choose to live indoors to escape the heat. If they are found inside, they are likely to be living in wall voids, attics, or crawl spaces.
