Important Considerations:

  • Silverfish can be destructive due to their feeding habits. They eat paper, glue, clothing, and food items.
  • It is not uncommon to see large silverfish infestations in offices, grocery stores, and libraries because of their abundance of foods that silverfish like to feast upon.
  • A silverfish can live for months without food or water as long as their environment is sufficiently humid.
  • If silverfish can access to your home, they can spread quickly because they are fast runners and adept climbers.

Where to Find Them on Your Property?

Silverfish can live both outside and indoors provided the habitat has a humidity of 70-90%. Because of their need for high amounts of moisture, silverfish in the home are often found in the bathroom or kitchen. They are also frequently found in basements, attics, and crawl spaces.
