Scientific Name: Halyomorpha halys

Important Considerations:

  • Stink bugs release a foul odor when crushed.
  • Plant leaves, stems, and fruit are all susceptible to stink bug damage. Stink bugs feed on and damage many plants, especially those in your garden, that can be found on your property.
  • Stink bugs find warm places to winter — this usually includes homes or other buildings. They invade in large numbers and can cause infestations that are a pain to exterminate.

Where to Find Them on Your Property?

During the warm summer and spring months, stink bugs are found outside living on and around plants. The biggest problem with stink bugs arises in the winter when they migrate indoors to survive the cold. Stink bugs find places such as windows, doors, siding, utility pipes, and chimneys to enter your home. They live out the cold months inside and reemerge in large numbers when the weather turns warm again.
